Religious Education at St. Mary's!

Welcome!

This page includes information about St. Mary’s RE programs. Most of our programs follow the school year but we have other events and opportunities to join our community and participate!

First Communion Preparation:

START DATE:  Sunday, September 21st, 2025

CLASS TIME: 9:35am - 10:35am

LOCATION: St. Mary's School

FEE: $40 total per student preparing for First Communion (also called a First Communicant). There is no cost for sacraments, but the registration fee covers all the supplies and everything else we need in order to run the program.

To prepare for First Communion, youth from 2nd -4th grades can come to Sunday sessions each Sunday in between our two morning Masses. This means that families can attend Mass before or after first communion classes! Youth will learn Catholic prayers, practices, and be prepared to receive the sacraments of both Reconciliation and Eucharist. They will make their first confession during the year of preparation and receive First Communion at the celebration of a Mass just for them in May of the school year when they’ve begun to prepare in September.

Confirmation Preparation:

START DATE: Sunday, September 21st, 2025

CLASS TIME: Sundays, 2:30pm - 4:00pm

LOCATION: St. Mary's School

FEE: $70 total per Confirmation Candidate. There is no cost for sacraments, but the registration fee covers all the supplies and everything else we need in order to run the program. The class fee is $30 and the retreat fee is $40, for a total of $70 per candidate. The full $70 fee can be paid together, or you can pay the fees for the class at when you register (or in the early part of class) and the retreat fee anytime up to the day of the retreat.  No candidate will be turned away for financial reasons.

If you have questions or are unsure about the requirements for Confirmation preparation, please reach out as soon as you can if you want to prepare for Confirmation at St. Mary's this year!

Becoming Catholic for Children and Families (also known as Order of Christian Initiation for Children/OCIC):

START DATE: Sunday, September 21st, 2025

CLASS TIME: 9:00am - 10:30am

LOCATION: St. Mary's School

FEE: There is no fee for OCIC, but free will donations to cover program costs will be accepted at the end of the program!

We will gather in St. Mary’s School Gym on Sundays to prepare Children and Families who want to become Catholic to be fully initiated and receive Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation. OCIC also helps Catholics who may have missed receiving their sacraments at the ordinary time can also prepare for them! Participants will be fully initiated into the church at the Easter Vigil Mass!

Becoming Catholic for Adults (also known as Order of Christian Initiation for Adults/OCIA):

We are preparing our OCIA program for this year, which will be presented by a team led by a combination of Deacons, Priests and Laypeople!
