My oh My! How fast a year goes by

My Oh My - How fast a year goes by!!

St. Mary’s had quite the year last year.  Some of it was excruciatingly slow and other parts are just a blur.  We had some great publicity and some was really not so great.  However, God truly does turn all things to good and has proven that St. Mary’s is thriving and alive!

First of all, thank you for all you have done to support our parish; monetarily, and with your volunteer time and talents. Regardless of the size of your gift, whether it was a legacy gift, or the Sunday collection, without it St. Mary’s would not have been able to do all the things we did!

Just look at what we were able to accomplish –

OUR CHURCH

  • The church debt of $1.2 million, and the School debt of $300,000 was paid off – we are debt free!!
  • RCIA Religious Education programs got all new materials.
  • The rectory has a new, much needed roof.

OUR SCHOOL

  • The school has new doors – thanks to a very special donor!
  • The church was able to help the school with over $400,000
    • Our church subsidized our school with $108,000.  This amount will go up to $175,000 this year.
    • The school’s debt of $300,000 has been paid off – the school is debt free!!  The church was able to sell one of our properties and used that money to help our school.

OUR FOODBANK

  • The foodbank was able to feed 23,342 clients – that’s 8,656 families!
  • Through the Books for Kids program, the foodbank gave out 900 books.

St. Mary’s parish also celebrated:

  • 29 Weddings
    • 32 Funerals
      • 117 Baptisms
        • 96 Confirmations
          • 178 First Holy Communion
            • 51 Quinceaneras

Thanks to all of you, each of these accomplishments and celebrations happened with lights on and coffee to drink. The bathrooms had soap, toilet paper and paper towels.  Our buildings had heat or air conditioning and supplies in the meeting rooms.  Parking lots had the snow removed and walks were shoveled.  Lawns were mowed and watered and the trees and bushes received some much needed attention.

Even with all our accomplishments, we are still running on a tight budget. Your continued care and support of St. Mary’s Parish will allow us to continue to provide the services we have, and maybe even improve some of them, or add more!  If you’re like us, St. Mary’s is HOME and taking care of our home is a priority that provides security, a feeling of belonging and since it’s our church – spiritual well-being!

Again, thank you for your support this past year. We couldn’t have done it without you!
